Antonio: Studio

After an interesting but somewhat challenging shoot in his apartment at the end of December, I was anxious to get Antonio into my studio. It took about a month but I finally did.

Antonio was the first person I shot in the studio with the newly painted walls.

I am extremely, extremely pleased with the results. After our first shoot, I knew that he was someone I wanted to shoot again but I had no idea how well it would work to have him in a more controlled lighting environment.

These photos were all taken on January 23, 2011.

Out of Studio

I've been shooting a lot lately, so much that I haven't been able to keep up with this.

Last month I experimented a bit with bringing my lights to unseen NYC apartment locations a few times. It's an interesting experience and I'm still learning, still trying to make my results more reliable.

This is Charley. He is not the first person I've shot who has the same name as me and hopefully not the last either. But I have to say, what a photographer should maybe never admit, that he looks better in person. I always say this, but I hope to get him into the studio one day.

Then a few days later I shot Scott. His was possibly the hardest location I've had to deal with; I just felt like his apartment, which is very nice and well-decorated, resisted dovetailing into my vision.

I did what I could, and I'll keep trying,

The photos of Charley were taken Jan 14, 2012 and the photos of Scott were taken Jan 18, 2011.
